Task Description: On November 7th we had athletics day. This is how I felt about it. At first, I felt scared because I don’t like doing things in front of a lot of people. But as the day went on, I felt less shy and got excited! I pushed myself to join in on everything, even though I didn’t win any placements.
The best part of the day was spending time with my friends. We were having fun doing all the activities, laughing a lot, and taking photos together. these were my favorite out of all of them so enjoy reading
- Shot Put This was my absolute favorite because I had the most fun doing it with my friends. Even though I think I might have hurt my arm trying to push the shot really far, I tried my best, and it was great that one of my friends ended up winning!
- Discuss I liked Discuss because it was a chance to chill out a bit with my friends since the weather was so hot.
- Tug-of-War: This was a lot of fun because everyone on the team was trying their hardest to win.
The funniest thing I did all day was in the High Jump. I started laughing as I was jumping because the stick hit my back! I didn’t want anyone to see me jump, but I still had a good laugh about it. My house team was great at working together. We all encouraged each other and helped out. For example, my friend supported me when I felt shy, which helped me push myself to participate.
I was inspired by my friend, Chrissy Dee, who showed great sportsmanship. Her team was losing, but she was still trying her very best to help them! I learned an important lesson about myself: I get scared easily, but if I just give it a go, I can do it. I won’t let fear stop me anymore—I’m going to keep trying my best.
My friend Alepina had an amazing day; she got first place in High Jump, reaching about 1.4 or 1.5 meters! I wish I was that sporty, but I was happy for her.
My highlight was just having a great time with friends, always trying our best, and enjoying what we were doing. Although High Jump was my worst event because I didn’t try my hardest, I would definitely do athletics again. It’s fun, and you get to spend time with your friends.
My advice for Year 6 and 7 students is: Give it a go. You might discover a sport you love, and even if you don’t, it’s still worth trying your best. Thank you for reading. Please leave a positive.
